I am not sure of the exact year that mine came off of, my brother picked them up at the jy when he got his. I do know they can be found on late 80s through early 90s Le Barons and New Yorker with the turbo engine.

hood vents
I got them from a 86 lebaron. Very easy to install used cut off wheel and them simply bolted in.

Have any of you ever heard of puttin a vent right above cold air intake. I think it might look kind cool.

I was thinking about doing that on mine. I think it would look cool too. I also had a thought on those computer fans if you mounted them under the hood vents and had them on a switch it would push more hot air out. I see them at princess auto all the time for about 4 or 5 bucks. I know they might get toasted with rain, but I thought it might be worth a shot?

Well after one week of nothing but rain and storms my hood vents worked out well, No rain got into the motor and no problems with them. They most definitely let heat out because you can see it rising up when your sitting still. I recommend them for sure...Tj

This is a new option. I was at the jy today and started looking for Le Baron vents. I figured if there were some available, I could pass them on to someone else. Although there were none from a Le Baron, I did find a large vent in the hood of a 1984 Dodge Daytona turbo. It was a two piece unit designed for the intake on the Daytona. The bottom part that directed air for the intake was easily removed leaving one large vent for the hood of an XJ. I may try it on my 89 trail rig when I get it running or I may sell it to one of you for what I paid for it, $12.

I have not noticed any difference on mine because my radiator needs to be replaced and it runs hot no matter what. I have to run my heat full blast to keep it from boiling over, and trust me it sucks. My brother says he noticed a least a 15-20 degree difference on his temp gauge since he installed his.

Quote: I think facing them forward would defeat the purpose of having the vents. They should allow air flow from under the vehicle to push the hot air up through the hood since heat rises. I installed the vents from a Chrysler Le Baron 3 weeks ago and have had no issues with rain so far, and it has rained a lot here lately.
What year Lebaron did the vents come off of?

I wouldnt expect it to lower the engine temps much, the underhood temps will be most effected.

But wouldn't the under hood temp also effect the temp of the engine? Kind of like an evaporation effect by increasing the air flow in side the engine bay.
