Question pullin my hair

I have a 96 Cherokee. not sure if it is a base or classic or country, but I seem to have an issue. last week I was bleeding the brakes and the jeep shut down on me. I checked fuses and found one in the power distribution block had blown. replaced it,and it kept blowing. mind you it was raining outside off and on. I sent it to the shop, they put a new fuse in and it ran fine. I had the jeep 2 days. today I was changing out the blower motor for the heater. it was also raining off and on. I started her up and she ran for all of 3 seconds. what do you know?,the same fuse blew. according to the p.d.b scematic, that fuse refers to the engine controller. I have a Haynes and chiltons manual and neither one of them tell me anything. only the vehicle manual. something is getting wet when the hood is open and I don't know what. so someone please help. I cant afford to keep sending her to the shop,(99% of the mechs out there are dishonest or have no clue what theyre doing) or afford another vehicle. excuse the language, but this ***** has to last me awhile.

Welcome to the forum Cj. If you get your codes read (free at the auto parts store), post that, then be true and concise on your posts, someone here likely can help.

If 96 has a rear 02 sensor, you might have bumped those wires while bleeding it?

OK their are plenty here who know your 96 better than me. (I hope they don't hold back because I'm posting). It's a particularly tough year as there might have been changes. 95 is a 95, 97 is a 97, but things happened during 96. Don't let that distract you, it might be simple.

Do you hear the fuel pump run when you first turn the key on? What is a pdb schamitic, (you meant diagram), and "engine controller"....God? Alla? never heard of that. PCM? (power control module) makes more scene.

On the fuel rail is a Schrader valve, like a tire valve. See if it spurt's gas into the rag you are holding there if you depress the thingey. Ign on. If you do not hear the pump, or that doesn't happen, you don't have any measurable fuel pressure.

OR.. unplug a plug wire, attach it to a plug that is touching a metal part of the engine and crank it. A crisp blue spark should be seen.

Which fuse have you replaced a number of times? The 5v feed from the PCM can short plenty of places, rear 02 front 02's or elsewhere. Without the ASD relay she won't work. (Auto Shut Down)
