A/C Blowing hot hair...still
Not 'hair' but air. Nice typo on my first post, eh?
I have a '01 Cherokee Sport.
I've had been adding the canister charging from the local auto store. It helps for about 1 day. I've had the jeep in to the commercial repair shop to be tested for leaks using an infrared die. No leaks are found. They are telling me the problem is a unit behind the firewall on the inside of the cab behind the glove box and air bag. The estimated price quote is $1500 to fix?! Whats the story on this... Anyone else had this issue. The repair shop says this is common for the Cherokees.. My Haynes manual doesn't go into detail that I can find for this kind of repair.
In addition to blowing hot air, I have been removing particles and pieces of a gray honeycomb type screen from my blow vents in the cab. Where is the screen and what is it for and how to replace it.
Thanks for any info you can offer.

Sounds like the evaporater to me. I have the same issue on my 01. My evaporater went out and now only blows hot air, and its a very hard part to get to.
The dealership quoted me 900 to fix it even though the evaporater is only about 100 dollars. Its a very time consuming repair because they have to take apart the whole dash to get at it.

As already stated... a very time-consuming job, and well worth the price you were quoted not to have some backyard hack destroy your dash or HVAC box.
I'm from FL, where the salt-air destroys evaporators... I've done a few hundred of them.
edit: don't forget... you've been inhaling all that refrigerant you used. Please get it fixed or stop recharging it.
