Pull-a-Part SCORE!!!!!
Pulled the hitch off of the red 88 on row 55, and the front axle off of a black 86 with a 2.8 V6 on row 56.
The red 88 also has a factory gas tank skid plate. All tha bolts are out, but the tank is resting on the rims supporting the vehicle. You could have them lift the Jeep and the skid will fall right off.

I got my spare-tire carrier off of the black '91 two-door

Man I love that place. Went out there yesterday and ran into solderjunkie who had a good amount of parts for his 2wd to 4wd conversion. I found for myself a ZJ V8 tie rod but messed up the outer end, and picked up a vent window for captainofiron. Went back today to check out another ZJ that was placed on the lot late yesterday afternoon. Picked up another ZJ V8 tie rod assembly and the pitman arm for the 1 inch drop. My brother picked up a gas tank skid and a factory tcase skid.
When your on a tight budget and the wife has'nt worked in 17 months you find ways to do the cheap upgrades. What sucks is our Corollas CEL came on a while back so we parked it until I could get it in the shop (I'm not screwing with that thing). I had the troible code checked yesterday and I'M looking at somewhere around $600 - $700 to fix it. Then the wife pulls in the driveway in the 01 XJ and tells me the CEL came on in it. But I swear I will at least have my 91 ready for Moab next year.

With these factory mounts, what kind of modifications do you have to do to a vehicle that wasn't equipped with it? I imagine I would just mount my license plate to the spare somehow but what about what fastens the swing-out piece to the tailgate, do you just drill holes and bolt it right on?

It had nut-rivets... which are little captured-thread inserts. The plate mounted to the left of the spare on the flat part of the hatch with a little aftermarket tag light.

Have you ever seen a grown man giddy with excitement? I got myself a D44 today out of a 90 MJ. Complete drum to drum, with driveshaft, 3.54 gears, and it's a limited slip. All for $105. I'm doing my happy dance right now.

Ya, the you-pull-it yard has strict rules about no power tools at all. They are NOT willing to mess with any cars in the yard other than to crush em when they are ready to. Kind of a pain, but for their prices? I am not complaining too much.
Seriously thinking about the hole-saw idea though. Would a 1 inch hole saw deal with the frame for that many cuts? I REALLY need a hitch for my '92 and for the $15 its almost worth it. I will bop out there Saturday and remove the rear bumper and see whats going on.
Any chances I can weasel a wrench down the frame tube from the bumper side? I was thinking of welding some rebar to a box-end Craftsman wrench and slipping it down the frame. Would that work? Not really sure how the nut-strips go in.....
