So i took my jeep to the local shop they poped the hood topped the fluids and changed my oil. To cold to do it myself. While my jeep was idling with the hood up. Heard a pop and liquid was hitting the belt and shooting it about 2 feet up in the air. Somethig happend and somehow im getting PS fluid on my belt and it keeps emptying itself. Filled it up an on the way home lost power steering. Any ideas on how much a pump and resivoir cost 96 jeep xj and could i do this at home

 

Are you sure it is coming from the pump? The reason I ask is you said it is shooting up about 2 feet. It sounds like it may be coming from the pressure side hose. I would check the hoses before buying the pump.

 

Thats what i thought i mean the fluid would have to make a 90 degree angle in free fall to hit the belt. But i dnt see any other way it could be getting on the belt or the fan lol
