Project "Blacked out"
This is my build thread for my 2001 XJ Sport. The title explains it all, everything will be black. Nothing special here, just another minor lifted XJ.
Components installed:
2.5" Old Man Emu Suspension upgrade
JKS Adjustable trackbar
Full Traction Bar Pin Eliminators
Skyjacker Steering Stabilizer
1" coil spacer pucks
Upcoming goodies:
31x10.5 Trxus MT's
15x7 Soft-8's
PORC sye
XJ Front driveshaft
Here it is with the lift on and 225's:
I added 3 coats of black rustoleum paint to the shocks, not only for the blacked out look but to prevent the guaranteed rust that we get here:
(if i commit a crime, you know where to find my fingerprints!
Full Traction BPE's so i never have to deal with the upper bolts again (they didn't break upon removal but you never know). I'm waiting for my 2nd set of these for up front.
I was a bit worried about the overload leaf hanging down and grabbing stuff. It appeared to be a problem when the springs were off the vehicle but once installed, they didn't seem to hang down much so i ain't worried. I may replace them with an OME add a leaf to gain an extra inch back there. it does seem higher up front.
Vibrations seem to be low but they are there when i accelerate hard. When i drive like grandma, it doesn't vibe all the way up to 55. That's as fast as i went so far. I have a 5/8" cheapo t-case drop on it right now. The sye kit will go on it anyways for a peace of mind.
Driving this baby is a whole new experience. No more rocking back and forth, no shimmies, bangs, or clunks. Potholes are now like small cracks. This thing rides so nice that i forget it's a jeep. OME is worth every penny .
Tires are due to arrive monday or tuesday so i'll get some pictures with them on it.

Sure is. I find myself looking for a reason to go drive somewhere just to enjoy how nice it rides. It's just that good. I'm just hoping it's enough height-wise to fit the 31" trxus mt's. I don't wanna chop chop or remove my flares cuz i'm in PA and we aren't allowed that.....unless you drive a wrangler. They don't seem to bother those.
