So I've been working on my 88 chief and dumping a lot of money into it. Today for my birthday I got it done. But once it got dark I had no tail lights. I have brake lights. Just not running lights. Nor do the corners have running lights. Also idk if this matters but my dash lights are out. I hope this isn't going to cost me a bunch of money. Im hoping there's not a short or the problem is typical and someone can direct me as to how to fix this. The corner running lights also kept popping fuses. Please help!

Your tale lights and dash lights are on the same fuse...guess you knew that. You gotta find the short....I'd start by taking a look under the rear, behind the bumper/tank area. Got trailer wiring? check that. Have somebody watch the lights while you knock things around a bit under there, (or use a mirror). Guess you can, with them on reach up under the dash and jiggle things around. If it's one if those, (less likely maybe), jiggleing might pop that fuse.

"my dash lights are out" Oh! I'm getten it....(they are still on the same fuse). So the tale lights ect work for a bit with a new fuse, but the dash lights never do? I'm pretty sure power from that circuit goes through the headlight switch/dash dimmer deal (and the lights on the shifter)(short could be there also). With a fresh fuse, if you jiggle and mess with the switch, (1/2 or all the way out), you get nothing? (would be cool if you could blow the fuse doing that, then you would know your problem is the headlight switch shorting)
did you have dash lights before?
Make sure the simmer isnt turned to the off position, your lights would still work but it kills all the inside lights, just a thought.
A pinched wire or a grounded out wire due to accident damage in the front could also be an issue.

The dash lights worked when i first got it and then went out. I do have brake lights when the brake is pressed. But the running lights (orange front corners/rear brake lights stay on) is not working. Headlights work fine... and no i tried the dimmer control, did not change a thing. The guy that was working on it said the fuse to the front orange corner running lights kept blowing.
