After pulling the intake/exhaust manifolds I took a peak at the top of valves. I noticed this. Looks like one valve wasn't seated great on the intake side. Then noticed that one of the exhaust valves had a different color in the chamber. It was more gray than white if that makes sense. Trying to attach a couple pictures of the difference.
Is this normal? Or are the valves supposed to seat completely when the motor is off? No visible problems with rocker arms or pushrods...before when I had a stuck valve the rocker was completely loose...
Below is the picture of the valve that doesn't appear to be seated properly. Just looking for opinions. I wasn't planning on pulling the head, but, I don't want to have to tear it down again anytime soon.

Not to worry.. when the engine is off there will always be a valve or three in the partially open position. The cam has to stop somewhere and there's no possible way all valves will be closed at once.

The only way for all the valves to be closed is to remove the rockers arms or push rods. Have you removed the valve cover? Are all the valve stem seals where they're supposed to be?

Thanks for the tip. I have removed the valve covers, but, I haven't looked at the seals. Didn't think about it. I will tonight. Decided to paint the motor before reinstallation. I've killed a few motors so I decided to take this one apart and inspect before I install it. Trying to decide if I want to pull the head to inspect for cracks and see what the pistons look like.....
What do you think about the differnt color in that last exhaust chamber? Nothing to worry about?

I think you're over thinking this.
What do the corresponding spark plugs look like?
You can't tell if valve stem seals are good or not just by looking at them.
