If you have a auto trans then yes. Hook it back up of you will burn your trans up.

It's a kickdown right? How do I fix that I don't see an easy way.... Hmm contact cement? Or does the end of the cable pop off so you could put a new clip on.

If the clip is broken you need to replace it. It's gonna be cheaper than replacing your tranny when it burns up.

the cable end looks fubared, I think we are looking at the end that should be facing the TB, and all the plastic that "clips" on the TB lever is gone. Someone must have pried the cable off like the ball/socekt style, instead of sliding it towards the drivers side...

yea thats what I said.

And I was thinking of going to town with some marine-tex and some vaseline on the linkage so the cable could still pivot on there. Ive gotten pretty crafty with marine-tex on the boat it think it would work. Because if I tried to put a new clip on the cable, the cable would be short from cutting the crimp off.

However, how hard is it to put a whole new cable in?

how hard is it to replace? hmmm, thats relative. I've never bothered to look closely at it with the oil pan off, but to loosen the other end, I you might have to drop that. It goes into the tranny on the drivers side, "top" of the oil sump area.

wonder if you could drill thru the plastic and the metal tab and put a machine thread screw in there? that way it could still pivot. although since youd have to drill off center i dunno. guess it depends how robust that plastic is.

other ideas?? perhaps you could find something that fits over that tit and glue it to the remaning plastic guess it depends how hard the cable is to operate

You have roughly an inch of adjustment in the cable. If you can manage to replace the clip and re-crimp it, just re-adjust the cable when you are done.
Press button, see that the cable fully retracts into housing, rotate throttle fully open to pull the cable back out into adjustment, release button.

Or as above- a small hole through the whole assembly with a small screw, bolt and a couple washers. Has to be able to pivot or the cable pull will be exaggerated when you step on the throttle.

Two possibilities:
1) A new cable from either the dealer or boneyard.

2) You can try to fashion a new cable end does not have to be fancy. Just form a piece of heavy wire to catch the crimp on one end, and a hook on the other to ride on the throttle valve shaft.

(A proper size fish hook would work.)

Oh, just I never did get the auto adjust deal. Idk..maybe I have something stuck...seems the space of a dime is fine, but I may well be missing something.
