Pro-Comp 3" lift, any experience?
Looking at a Pro-comp 3" lift. This will be mostly for show and some light trails. Are they any good, or should I spend the extra cash for a longer set of front springs and not do the front spacers/AAL lift?
The price of an all new spring lift (front coils, rear leafs) will seriously impact my tire budget, but I do have a set of nearly new 30 X 10.5 in the garage so I don't NEED new tires/rims right away.
My thoughts are to go with the Pro-Comp lift w/ shocks first, then eventually go with another lift w/ longer springs also for a total of 5" or so...

Here's my XJ on a 3" Pro Comp lift with 30's. I've had pretty good luck so far. The rear shock barpins that came with the kit are pretty week. Both of them busted on me so I just replaced with the stock barpins. If you have the extra cash, it might be a good idea to get some barpin eliminators from Quadratec

yeah, here's the deal. I had a 2" budget boost before. There was a slight sagging after that install. I figured the aal would help correct it but when I went to install my lift, I couldn't find the stock shackles. Using an aal and the longer shackles in place of the stock ones, the springs went from sagging to slightly curved. Some have said if I used the stock shackles, there would be more curve, but I think the stock springs were ***** before.
My plans are to purchase a new set of 3.5" lift springs, keep the 2" shackles and add 2" coil spacers to the front to level it out. But right now, the ones I have are holding up so I'm in no hurry. Plus, I'll put off adding the coil spacers as long as I can, not too fun if you know what I mean.

Do you hear banjos?
If you don't go with RC, you REALLY have to get teh full packs, regardless of manufacturer. Even if it's just for show, AALs will sag. 100% of the time, it happens every time!!

My 01 Cherokee has RC long AAL's but they are shorter than the RC AAL's I put on my 95 Cherokee. The 95 went from eye to eye on the spring pack. The 01 were used as the third leaf instead of the second leaf and the ride and height is not as good. The springs are sagging.
I want to got with new ~3in spring packs. Which manufacturer due you recommend? RC, Rancho, Rusty's, Skyjacker Softride, Pro Comp, etc?
Thanks

Well in the end I went with the RC 3" lift with AAL but did not use the AAL- I built a bastard pack from a JY 1995 Dakota 4X4 - ended up with 4.75" in the rear or so. Ended up a little too rear end high so I got a second set of factory spring isolators (3/4"). Put them in but still wanted a little more- put in 1/2" steel spacer this weekend and now I am at 4.25" front and 4.75" in the rear. JY Springs were $40 and they ride nice and are in a lot better shape than the XJ springs I removed. Not new, but a lot better shape than the ones I pulled out. Gave them a rattle can paintjob on install and things look nice and fresh.
