Power window swich not working
#31
first post, hello all! just bought a 2000 sport (my first Jeep) and it has all of the classic electrical problems. I started with the By-pass and the windows work just fine, thanks for the tip. I am not concerned about the lock, so no great loss. I am however frusterated by the non working mirrors though, I need to get to that boot and take a look at the wires. My guess is that the mirrors are not working because of cut wires. any one have that problem as well?
Next I have to tackle the A/C problem. I have been searching the threads and I am uterrly confused. I have nothing, no blower for A/C or heat. Not sure where to begin, any thoughts would be appreciated.

power window lock
The problem with my jeep was that the power window lock switch was messed up. I took the drivers side door module apart and sure enough the solder for this switch had broken (lost contact). I desoldered the old stuff and resoldered a new contact. Put it back together and it works great. the individual swiches were kind of a pain to get off the module but don't be afraid to get tough with them, they won't break unless you get ridiculous on em. Great detailedpictures at the link below.

I did the paper clip fix and it worked great! Thanks now I don't have to near can you roll my window down blah blah blah from all my passengers.
Oh and I noticed the passenger window goes up and down faster now. Must have been a voltage drop too.

Tried the paper clip into the connector on my 00... worked great! Can't believe it was that simple. A more permanent solution would be just to remove the tan and yellow wires from the connector and connect them together with a butt connector, but for the now the paper clip will do just fine!

My passenger window and doors locks didnt work on 91 cherokee. The problem was the wires between the drivers door going into the cabin.
Open the door, remove the rubber boot and inspect the wires.. below is how mine looked, I was amazed how many wires were broken. It has since been repaired and everything works, including the window lock.

THanks for the suggestion. Where or how did you find out, which wire was for what? I could guess the broken one is causing the trouble, but what if there are multiple, like on the pic? Is the a diagram or something available?

Just see what color wire is damaged then find that same color wire inside the door. There isnt but so many places it could go. Windows, lock, speaker, or mirror about covers the options.

That is for the tweeters in the classic and limited. If you decide to get component speakers with the external tweeters you already have the wiring run, but make sure the wires are not broken in the boot where the splice was made.
