How do you remove the door hinge boot?
My driver's side window does not work at all.
I hope it's a broken wire in the door hinge ( and not a dirty connection inside the switch)

Collapse the boot grommet and pull it away from the body, then collapase the other end of the boot and push it almost all the way into the door. This will give you room to work.
As a side note a new length of wire with splices on the ends of the boot area (one inside the door the other inside the body) will last much longer than one butt splice inside the boot, if that makes any sense. The wires can only flex for so long with the door opening and closing before they shear.

Yea, that makes sense, as it will eventually fray again in the same spot. What's the ideal method of doing the 2 splices offset from the door boot?
Do you just cut, strip, and twist together, and then use those twisty ***** to secure them? (What are those things called?)
Or use a butt splice connection that you crush with pliers?
Or wire taps?
Or solder? (prefer to avoid)

I added a couple inches of new wire to each one so they would not snap again. I wrapped it all in electrical tape and put a little grease on the tape to prevent moisture. I used an inline splice. I would have soldered it but I was out if solder at the time.

All remote (non-drivers) power window switches nfg?
On my 1993, the system works with a single power feed from the override switch that makes its way under the carpet below the drivers feet. There it splits to a separate wire to each of the other doors. Where I live, that carpet and felt underneath it are essentially soaked or frozen for at least a few months every winter. Corrosion is inevitable. In my XJ, the connector was nothing but green dust.
It is a pretty easy fix, and I improved the situation by relocating the splice points to the side of the transmission tunnel, requiring another that I put on the side of the door sill. At least minimize the time spend laying in ice and water.

Similar problem with my '92 Cherokee. Everything works from the main panel. Window lock switch tests OK. Door locks work on doors individually, but not windows. The search begins.

Read this entire thread, but didn't come across MY particular snafu! Driver side rear window ONLY, not working. All others work from the DS control panel, AND from their respective individual switches. Switch lights are lit up, and I can faintly hear a hum when I flip the DS Rear switch........freaky!

Unplug that particular motor. Check current at the plug and see if you are getting juice from the switch both directions. If you are getting current then your issue is the motor itself. If you are not getting current next would be check at the switch itself. Make sure you are getting current to the switch. Current to the switch but none to the motor = bad switch. No current to the switch=broken wire somewhere + headache.

HOW TO: fix jeep Cherokee power window.
Look it up on YouTube. Easy wire bypass worked for me. My old lady's happy being able to open her window now...
Really easy. Should help 3 or 4 of you on here.

I'm looking into picking up a 92 XJ in a couple of weeks that will need this bypass done. Forgive my noobness, but where/what exactly does the paperclip plug into? I can see the pictures but are you suppose to trim the paper clip so there are two prongs essentially, one goes into each of the colored areas of the connector plug? Currently searching the YouTubes right now.
