Power Window Problem
No, it's not the window lock-out switch.
My rear passenger side door window stopped going up. It rolls down, but not up.
So, I went to the junk yard and robbed a "resting" XJ for a door wiring harness and window switch.
Tested the switch, good switch, but didn't fix the problem.
I inspected the wiring harness for breaks in the wires, there were none. All wires tested fine. Installed it, didn't fix the problem.
I can get the window to roll back, though, but reversing the wires to the window regulator - I unplug the connector, run two extra piece of wire between the plugs, then switch them so it's backward from how it's supposed to be - now the window will roll up, but now down.
The wiring is good all the way to the plug on the regulator.
SO, could this be a bad connection in the regulator itself? Obviously if it rolls up and down fine depending on how I have it plugged in, the regulator works... What do you think?

Yes. Basically I'm just taking the plug between the switch and the regulator and turning it around.
Like this (just using red and blue as an example, not really the colors)
SWITCH-------red wire---PLUG---blue wire---------REGULATOR
SWITCH-------blue wire--PLUG---red wire---------REGULATOR

Yes. Pressing down on the switch makes the window go down. Pressing up, it does nothing.
After I switch the wires, pressing down on the switch makes it go UP, and pressing up does nothing still.
Again, you'd think it would be the switch, but I swapped it with a working switch and it still didn't work.

Sounds like the motor wiring is bad. I work for an auto glass company and I work on stuff like this frequently. I also have to ask...which switch are you using to roll the window down? The one on the door itself or the main driver door switch? If it doesn't work from the main driver switch, typically they don't work on the door either since i believe on the Jeeps they're wired to the main switch. By you saying that you tried a working switch and it still wouldn't work, I'm assuming the main driver switch is bad. Also, are you a smoker? Keep the window rolled down a tiny bit? Water drips and fries the main switch a lot. That would be the next thing I would test. Get a working main driver switch and swap them out, if that doesn't fix it, it's the motor.

Thanks, I'll give that a try!

I was wondering if the main switch replacement fixed your issue. I have the same thing on my 96 Cherokee. Rear passenger will roll down but not up. Every once in a while it will go up (maybe once a week or so), but will go down all the time.
