Default Power Window Issues ....

NOTE: Vehicle is not mine and currently not here. There may be two separate yet related problems. Here is the story as I know it.

2000 Cherokee Sport

One Month Ago: Power windows did not work at door controls, but all did work from drivers door.

Today: Passenger side rear window stopped working from drivers door and was stuck in the OPEN position.

Opened up rear passenger door and applied 12 VDC directly to the window motor. Closed the window, then opened and closed again to confirm window motor/regulator works fine.

Any ideas ??????

THANKS

Window lock button on the driver's door and/or wiring. Speaker not working in the passenger side door is common. Window too. Usually right in the boot. Window lock button is also common. Some guys bypass it. Some guys resolder everything in the master control. Some guys like me just say screw it and buy a new master control.

When you disassemble the master control from inside the driver door.
Lots of small brass toggle contacts. Tweezers and patience are your friend.
I put on magnifying glasses to assist.
Clean each toggle and may have to bend only very slightly as they fatigue with use and not make the contact.
Steady hands at reassembly help.

I figure the Window Lock button for the " all door window switches " not working.

This new issue of the passenger side rear window not working from the mast though. I'll get another master control unit and toss it in, then go from there.

Thankfully my personal Jeeps have manual windows and door locks!

Most of the time it's the switch. The next likely suspect is the wiring where it goes through the boot (door to door jamb transition) because it flexes. Those two probably account for 99% of power window problems.

You can bypass the window lock button by removing the drivers kick panel, find the connector with yellow, tan and black wires. Connect the tan and yellow wire with a jumper wire between the two.
