Quick background - Bought a 99 XJ and the Passenger Power Window did not work. Took it apart to find out why and the Windows is held up with wood blocks and disconnected from the regulator.

I am trying to find out why and when I move the switch in one direction is the motor sounds like it is running but when I move the switch in the other direction, no sound. Does anyone think it is the motor/regulator or the switch itself? I plan on testing it on another window but, that is pain to unwrap the cables, etc. just to test on another window switch. Didn't know if anyone else had this problem.

Check the switch. Put a meter on it and see where your getting power and where your not. That will get you to where the problem is. Hope that helps any

 

I'd say its the regulator. Can be found at a junk yard for less than $30. Takes 30 minutes to replace.

 

without Hijacking the thread, I have a quick question somewhat related. All 4 of my power windows are not working in a 89 XJ laredo. Is it possible that the 4 motors or regulators went off at the same time or highly improbable ? I am trying to figure this out ....
