Default cooling question

So, I got one quick question about cooling. I have a snapon scanner, a
nd when I plug it in at temp it shows the coolant temp around 190*. But the gauge in the jeep shows it around 210*. Now I know that it's two different sensors. But would this mean that the rear of my engine (closer to the firewall, where the gauge sensor is) really be hotter then the front? Would this show me that my water pump may not be flowing coolant good enough to cool off the rear of the engine? Just wondering, cause I've had pinging under load for alittle while now, but it always sounds closer to the rear of the engine. Maybe coolant isn't cooling down the rear cylinders?

Thanks guys,
J
