Default Power steering fluid getting really hot

so I just replaced both my power steering pump and steering box on my 93 xj. When the jeep is cold everything is okay but after about 10 minutes of driving my pump starts whining like crazy and my fluid isn’t boiling but it’s extremely hot. I ordered a new high pressure hose but I’m not sure if that’s my issue or not. My fluid isn’t foamy or anything, I’m wondering if my pump is DOA.

I wonder if I bled it wrong, lifted the tires up and turned the wheel back and forth like 10 times

I know on other vehicles that is the right way. But if there wasn't enough fluid in the reservoir it could have gotten air back in it. Check the level and keep turning.

i checked the level last night and it was actually too full. I drained the fluid immediately and refilled with new and the pump stopped making the noise bit I haven’t drove it yet to see if it’ll still make a noise.

That's what I do, except I do it 10 times or so with the engine off, refill as necessary, then do it again with the engine running.

So the other night I drained the reservoir and put fresh fluid in, made it more than twice as far before the pump was starting to whine, it wasn’t as loud but it still sounded like a supercharger. I’m wondering if it’s just air that’s trapped mixing in with the fluid.

If you have air trapped in there, pull over and take off the reservoir cap with the engine still running. You should see foaming of the fluid or at least bubbles in it.
