Power steering fluid foaming only when higher rpm?
So...
no stranger here but kind of a weird issue ive got going on. Replaced the power steering gear box today with a rebuilt unit to OE specs. New lines and fittings, and new reservoir (cause the 90 on the old one snapped off!). Anyway, getting it all back together and I think that I have bled all the air out of the system but am not totally sure? When idling everything sounds fine, I can see the fluid pumping through the reservoir and all looks normal. When I get going into any higher rpm the PS pump starts whining like crazy and the fluid starts getting filled with air. Let it go back to idle for 20-30 seconds and the fluid has no bubbles anymore. I suppose my question is does this sound like its pulling air from somewhere without a visible fluid leak? Or is there something that I am missing all together? A little cornfused on this one! When idling and going through the correct bleed procedure no air is visible at all, fluid stays semi transparent and is visible circulating around in the reservoir. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

I went through the drill of fighting foaming after a pump change. Initially I used Valvoline Power Steering Fluid (white jug) and it foamed. Couldn't get it to stop. So I sucked it out using my HF brake bleeder vacuum pump and refilled it with Valvoline Max Life Power Steering Fluid (red jug). This did the trick. It contains an anti-foaming component that actually works.
Hope you didn't install a Cardone rebuilt pump. I went through three of those buggers before I got one that didn't leak or squeal.

No pump change at all, was just the gearbox and lines, the old pump made no noise so I didn't think it was worth it to change. I just used the store branded power steering fluid. I suppose I will try your recommendation tomorrow see what it does...

Well I think all the whine is done for. Didn't change the fluid yet. Had to make a twenty minute drive so just took off in it and it seemed to work itself out....
New problem though; new steering gear box appears to have a dead spot in it. The steering is effortless compared to what I'm used to and I run on 33x 12.5's. I suppose that's a good thing but you tend to over correct. But there hits a spot where your turning and you get no movement then all of a sudden it kicks back in. It's a cardone unit and have heard mixed reviews about them. Wondering what others have experienced and if it's mostly bad then any recommendation on a gear box. Please don't say psc it's not in the cards and way more than I actually need. Thanks
Oh yeah and virtually no return to center when navigating a turn, left is better than right. The only steering component that was touched was the drag link nothing else was messed with
