So my power locks only unlock. Neither switch will get them to lock. Any ideas on this? Are there different wires for the lock vs unlock? If so what color am I looking for.
As always, thanks guys.

For both driver and passenger side doors? When you hit the lock, do you hear the actuator or whatever it is called "clunking" like it is trying to lock the doors but they stay unlocked? Can the key get the door to lock and unlock fine?
Could be a few different things, like sometimes the mechanisms just need a little grease to work again. If nothing at all happens when you hit the button, your first step would be to visually check the wires.

Well up until earlier this week the passenger control worked both lock and unlock. The driver side I don't think there is a noise when I try to lock, I will have to double check and report back for sure.
The key will lock and unlock just fine, the manual locking and unlocking works. I did just replace the master switch on the driver side with a brand new switch. Cleaned and lubed the connections before reassembly.
I tried to get at the wires in the boot between the door and body but couldn't get the boot stuffed into the door frame. I'm pretty sure I have some damaged wires because of the way the speaker is acting so it may just be a wiring issue.

I double checked and there is no noise when trying to lock the doors using the switch.
Does anyone know if there are seperate wires for lock and unlock?
It's getting cold out and I don't want to spend hrs messing around trying to get at the wires if the wires are not the problem.

"I tried to get at the wires in the boot between the door and body but couldn't get the boot stuffed into the door frame."
That's the easy part, loosen the boot from the chassis then shove the boot into the door. Chances are you will find all kinds of broken wires. Best to make your splices in the body or door itself so as to last a little while.

Update: The power lock switch on the passenger side works again, no apparent reason for the change.
I pulled the boot back and looked at the wires. None broken but a few with the insulation cracked, repaired those.
the driver side lock switch will unlock but still no lock. No noise like the motor is trying either. The master switch is brand new as well.
I'm kinda stumped at this point.

I have a 98 Cherokee that had the same problem. My problem was where the relay mounts to the circuit board inside the passenger door switch. The relay became disconnected from the switch. It is all on the board and it was too difficult to get to the back side of the circuit board so I just wired a new lock relay. There are separate wires for lock and unlock, lock is orange, I cannot remember what color the unlock wire is.

New update: so I found out that I have no power going to the lock switch for the driver side. All the rest of the controls on the driver side work fine, and the switch unlocks everything fine. Passenger side still locks and unlocks all doors.
What wire am I looking for to check for power to the lock feature?

Did you look on the driver side door or passenger?
My 99' has this "I'll lock if I feel like it" disease too, though it applies to all doors, not just one. It's a complete random thing. I wonder if I need to pull the driver side boot and look at some wires too….
The remote battery is new and I'm stumped.

It's a driver side door problem only. I haven't checked wires to the passenger side.
I should clarify, there is 12 V going to the switch, but when you hit the lock switch, it doesn't drop down current like it should.

UPDATE: took the jeep into my shop today and had them look into the problem. After running a pin test and checking the wiring diagram their response is that I need a new passenger door switch because the lock command goes through the passenger side.
Can anyone take a look at the diagram and let me know if this is correct? Why would the master switch have to go through the passenger switch?
Please help, I've been working on this for a while and I want to make sure before I throw more money at it.
