Power at first, none when I hit the ignition
So last night after a day's worth of smooth driving I go to start my Jeep and everything seems normal until I hit the ignition. The interior lights turned on, the key buzzer.....buzzed, and as soon as I turned the key I lost all power. I checked the battery connections and alternator connections and they are clean. I tried a jump start and it did nothing. Could it be a bad shift cable or neutral safety switch? I tried starting it in park, and N but no luck.

Sounds like neutral safety switch. Sometimes wiggling the shifter while in park helps. If not you xan jump the starter with a screwdriver. Youll need to adjust and clean the neutral safety switch

It's on the passenger side of the transmission, near where it (the transmission) attaches to the engine. Do your reverse lights work?

If the NSS is bad, the lights will not dim because there is NO power getting to the starter. Starter is suspect here, along with battery connections, even though they LOOK good.

Is your Jeep a 96? I will assume it has not thrown a code yet... have you check the starter wires?
