Brights weren’t working. Changed lamps. Nothing.

I pulled the headlamp switch out just one click so that the gauge cluster would illuminate (headlights are still off at this point). Then I pulled the turn signal lever towards me as if I were flashing the brights at someone and the brights came on. Now the brights work regardless of the position of the headlamp switch. I have no idea how this fixed it but give it a try before you rip your hair out!

 

Chalk it up to corroded contacts on the "beam select switch".

Older trucks used to have this exact issue. The dimmer switch was a button on the floor you would stomp with your foot to select high or low beams. The headlights would quit working completely sometimes because that switch was 1) in the floor 2) of a truck. It would get covered in rain, mud, snow, deer guts, etc.
