Default Port and Pollish? Exhaust?

I'm getting my head re-done on my 90' XJ 4.0.

Thinking about getting it ported an polished.

Anyone know if its worth it? or what kind of gains i will be looking at.

Would i have to have my intake man. done too??

Also, would i have to trim my new intake and exhaust gasket for it to work right??

Also, I already dont have a cat and im thinking about throwing on a flowmaster or something,
anyone have an thoughts on what sounds the best? and what they cost?.

thanks so much.

Jeff

dont get you head redone, seeing your have a 1990 you have a renix head on yours. go to the boneyard and get a head off of a H.O. motor. then get that ported. then swap in the cam and get a 99+ intake and TB.

then you will see some power gains.

the casting # on the head you need is 7120. that is supposedly the best flowing stock head

Here is the deal, I already have the head done but am getting it pressure checked and figured that i might wanna do a little perfoemance upgrade too. The engine i have in there is a '94 and i think its an H.O. But my valves or valve seals are leaking so i just wanna pull the whole head and bolt the one i paid for on. Shoul i still get it ported and polished??

What about a TB Spacer?!

If it's a '94 than it is a HO .

A TB Spacer is a throttle Body Spacer it goes between the throttle body and the intake.. I don't personally be leave they do anything at all. BUT that is my view others will disagree..

i thought you had a 94 h.o.

do u have a renix head also?

read that link i put up and tell us what you got.

i dont think you will make much money getting an h.o. head ported and trying to sell it. those heads are everywere if someone wanted a ported one they would buy one and get it ported instead of buying it from you. unless you can sell it for a price less than or close to the port job in which it is pointless for you because you wont make money.

tell me this guys, the OP said that he is running an H.O. motor in his 90xj...is the H.O. motor a direct swap into the old 4.0 cherokees such as my 89...mine has about 232k on the clock and im considering a rebuild, or a replacement...
thanks

the swap can be done. mechanically its a direct swap but i believe you will have to put a h.o. electronics in also
