Yes you need to mod the DS using a spicer joint but I forgot the exact PN. Wait around for somebody to get you that part number.

Wouldn't you want a driveshaft with a slip in it? A rear XJ driveshaft doesn't slip are you thinking about a front driveshaft?

I run the PORC SYE with a stock front driveshaft in the rear. It worked fine with my 8.25, and also with my current 8.8 axle.

There is no flange or anything, the PORC SYE is a yoke.

Is it a hack-n tap style or a new tailhousing?

Just got back from out of town. Yes it is the HD SYE and I am going to get the front DS from an auto. So what i am reading is that it should bolt right in. Correct?

I just did this exact mod a few months ago:

PORC SYE

Stock front xj driveshaft from a 2001:

refer to this for finding the right length DS for your application:
http://www.crownautomotive.net/catal...r_shafts2.html

It's a direct bolt-in. No mods neccessary.

Good luck

So, are you saying i could get the porc sye for about $170 and pick up a front driveshaft from another xj, and be ready to go?! If this works, why doesn't everybody do it? Could prolly do the whole thing for under $250?

I would say about 45-50 percent of xj-ers do this mod. Ask around and you'll see. It's a very common mod to save you alot of pennies.
