Default Pops, squeeks, and clunks!

I am looking for causes to why my jeep makes all these noises and want to minimize the noise. What are common problems that I can look for. What are uncommon. I'm trying to eliminate as many as I can.

I think getting a Prius will do it! Btw, I just changed a front axle u-joint because mine went snap, crackel, pop, turning hard in 4WD.

Posting what you have always helps.

Best way to fix the rattles and squeaks... Louder stereo.

I have a good stereo and it sounds go...okay! My dads jeep is terrible though I just think it's my most prized possession so I want it working great and in tip top shape. I know my u joints are almost dead so I have that covered! My main reason is to be Able to identify problems. I had a clunking this week finally found what it is (shock bushings exploded letting the shock wiggle around) but it would be nice to be able to pin point noises better.

They're all old, lol. The newest XJ is what, 11 years old now?
Bushings deteriorate, u-joints wear out, exhaust systems fall off... you fix noises by finding the worn out part and replacing it. (thanks, I thought of that all by myself)

Start with anything with bushings. The bushings in my rear shocks got hard and basically fell away, got a nice clunk every time I hit a bump. Good excuse to change them.
eta: I see after posting this that you already had that bit of fun!

.. Being that I've changed at least 5 or 6, (over ten years), I think I've changed more U-joints than anything...besides tires. My left engine, and trany mount are shot, but not bothering me unless I need to pull my aux fan, then I need to pry the engine back for a minute.

Haha I think it would be cool to do a geo with utv tires and tube bumpers! I need to get new rear leafs any ways they're sagging a little so bushings there will be fixed.
I was thinking a few pops could be from the rear bar pins.
The front control arm bushings are almost completely shot. So that's another.

There's a bell curve with XJs in this regard. As they get older, you get more and more rattles, squeaks and other noises. That's normal.

What you should really be watching out for is if one of those noises stops. That usually means something fell off!

That is truly poetic! I think that's the best rationalization I've heard yet!
