Default Popping and whining. One unhappy Jeep.

Hey Ya'll. 2000 Xj, 4wd selectrac, Dana 30 in front, np242 Tcase, 3 inch lift.

After a very muddy and rough offroad trip a few days ago once I got back to town I had some new damage that I cannot for the life of me figure out. But I know you guys can!

When Steering wheel is turned to passenger side and brought back to straight forward there is a pop. I can move wheel from right turn to straight back and forth and hear a pop. I Checked ujoints and I dont see any play. I jacked up jeep and shook tires and again no play. Assuming the worst I removed diff cover and checked all gears, cleaned very well and reassembled and refilled with gear oil. Still Popping. I drained Tcase and refilled just as a precaution. No improvement. I pulled front drive shaft and drove around in 2wd. Still Popping. This sound occurs regardless of 2wd or 4wd.

On a side note. Most likely not related. At speed from 25- 40 mph while accelerating there is a loud humming sound almost like Im on a crouch rocket. When not on throttle. No sound. Just tap the accelerator in that speed range. Loud Humming.

I am at a complete loss after trying all of this for 6 hours today.

Hope ya'll can help.

Check the steering box bolts and the sway bar end links.

And the track bar mount to frame bolts. Don't ASSume any of these are tight. Put some wrenches/sockets on them and make sure.
