I have a 99 XJ that i took wheeling this weekend. Now I got a popping noise coming from the front end drivers side. Happens most often when I turn, but also happens when I come to a stop and when I start back up.

Stats:
4" lift with coils in the front and leafs with 1" shackle in the back. Adjustable trac-bar with tie rod end. Rustys quick discos. extended brake lines. I got about two hours of day light left. Anyone got any ideas?

 

mine does the same thing. i think something's gonna need to be greased. i will probably mess with it this weekend, I'll let ya know.

 

I just went out there and tightened the tracbar to the frame. I then greased everything that had a grease fitting. Hopefully it works. Anyone got anymore ideas? Its a rustys tracbar and Im thinking i need to get the double shear end

 

Check for worn bushings on your sway bar where it mounts to the body of your XJ mine were warn and every time i turned or hit a bump or started and stopped the bar would bang. simple fix if it is they run about 10 bucks a side

2xs.They have them at AZ for $9 for both sides.I have the same problem with mine.

 

I just confirmed my problem Passenger side Cardan (U joint) is shot. has about a 1/4 inch of play

 

i have a popping noise just the same, more when i accelerate. cant be sway bar for me, granted i never run a front! ill give you an idea of what mine is when i find out what it is (4wd works flawlessly and steering is great also so im missing a tiny bit)
