last week my jeep started making these popping noises from the engine. Do you guys know what I need to look for to fix it? I already looked at flex plate and the bolts still the same noise persist.
heres a video I recorded of the sound

You're moving around a lot in that video to try and capture what you're referring to. I can hear it, but it's hard to tell where it's coming from with that vid.
Have you checked all your mounts yet? (engine and trans)
could also be a bearing...pulley maybe? hard to tell.
Need more info to assist. Can you tell what part of the engine bay it's coming from? Do you have a stethoscope? (if not a long screwdriver can work) place it against different parts of the motor/trans while it's idling and see if you hear it louder in one particular area.
Let us know.

Hard to tell the source of the noise but it is odd enough and significant enough that I would change the oil and see if there are metal shavings in the old oil. A magnet can help you with this if you don't have a magnetic drain plug already. Keep us updated and try to isolate where it is coming from.
heres another video I took after the first. It feels like the noise is coming from the oil pan area it's hard to pin point it. All the mounts are good I believe all the pulleys are good as well.
when I raise the rpms I feel the popping going away but there's still some rattling going on. It's definitely less when rpms are raised.
Could it be a cracked flex plate? It did look good when I inspected it. Or maybe something to do with the oil?

Inspect the flexplate more closely. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/ho...ocking-125547/Originally Posted by Gerardo Hernandez

Out of curiosity to stuck away for a future nugget of knowledge... what causes that to work itself loose in the first place?

Torque spec too low on the bolts. Originally Posted by RocketMouse

They're in there with Loctite, but not tight enough.

thanks... was just curious if it was something like that, or if it was a known issue of some kind.Originally Posted by cruiser54

It is a known issue. Low torque and Loctite.Originally Posted by RocketMouse
