Default poping noise from transfer case

my front drive shaft pops when i am turning in 2 wheel drive. i looked under the jeep while the wife moved it and i saw the front drive shaft lift up at the yoke on the tcase. the ujoint is good so i ruled that out. front axle spins fine on jacks stands, so i ruled that out. i am guessing the t case. also i cannot get it into 4wheel drive at all. i messed with the linkage and it just doesn't move. please help. i want to go to the king of the hammers tomorrow to watch and i would really like to take my Cherokee.

also only makes noise when i turn

Just remove front driveshaft, then check for noise. Then check components seperately, axle, shaft, TC

Did you already check the fluid level & condition? Sounds like it's time for a rebuild.

Yoke on axle or transfer case?
Ever check fluid level in it? (axle or TC)
