So yesterday I was getting ready to take off and clean my NSS I did a little research to see what tools I would need when I came across this the last post states that putting a jumper wire connecting the A and E terminals should turn on my reverse lights, before I got started I tried this and got nothing. Meaning the NSS isn't the problem... at least not at the moment.
Where should I look next? Fuses are all good (unless there is a special hidden one for the back-up lights) and the bulbs are good also, I pulled them out and tested them with the battery.

7.5 amp "trans" fuse being blown will result in no reverse lights.

That sounds like the secret fuse to me. Maybe not hidden but a little odd, I suppose I can see how that might affect it. TO THE JEEP!!

I didn't believe it when someone first told me. So, I went out and pulled it and my reverse lights no longer worked.

Sweet they work now. Had to replace it with a 10 amp since I didn't have a 7.5 on hand. Now I recall you mentioning to me of a way to put my jeep in power trans permanently since any time I was towing put it in power and gave it some gas my fuse would blow. Do you have a link to that or another one of your famous write-ups that I haven't seen.

Never did a formal write-up. I'll do one special for you now as a New Year's present. And yes, a faulty Power/Comfort switch will blow that fuse.

Remove the switch. Unplug it. In the 3 wire harness there are of course 3 wires. One is tan, the other is colored with a stripe as a tracer and of course one is black. Make yourself a jumper wire about 4" long with a male spade cripped on to each end. Plug one spade into the receptacle with the tan wire and the other spade into the receptacle with the colored wire with stripe. Shove the harness back in there. Reinstall the switch. Permanent Power mode.

Your the best Cruiser, probably could have figured that out myself. For some reason it seemed like it would be a little more difficult then that. One final question, will being in power mode all the time make my MPG worse because it's already bad.

Not at all. Get out your wire and crimpers.

Do this while you're at it:

I have done that actually. Now I just need to wait for my next day off to clean and adjust my NSS, because I'm sure it still needs it. Thanks again to everybody who has voted on their difficulty with the NSS and especially to Cruiser for all his help.

When mine started acting up, I brought it to my mechanic to get it cleaned up and adjusted. Well, not even 5 minutes into removing it, it broke into a lot of pieces.....Let just say that I wasn't happy, but what can you do. Tried to find one in a junkyard that day, but no luck. This was an expensive cleanup...

LOL!!! I probably wont keep it for that long, lol. For the record, I wasn't complaining, just saying that I was one of the few that couldn't just get it cleaned and adjusted.

See when I was doing my research initially, sometime last year, a few stories like that are what stuck in my mind. This is why I did the poll for a visual of how many people have had bad problems like that, or if its been easy squeeze for most people. Based on the poll at this point most are pretty easy to get off.

I guess it depends how old the switch is and the weather where you live.
