Police edition
With any luck, hopefully you got the metal grating on the rear sides and hatch window. (Which I REALLY want! - theres a set on ebay now for $100, but still think I can make a set for less)
Did it still have the prisoner partition between the front and rear seats?
That being said I wonder if the front and rear seats are further apart?? I just sat in the rear of mine tonight. Not much room back there at all, and mine is a NON Police Edition...
Annnnnnddd.. Not to be "that guy" buuuuuttttt... PICS, OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!
Congrats on the new rig!

I once owned a police equipped vehicle. It too had the high idle switch. I was told that when a police officer was cruising around with the A/C on and had to go into a pursuit, the high idle switch would keep the A/C compressor from from robbing the engine of that extra horsepower needed when in pursuit.
I'll try to answer all questions in one post if I can. Pretty sure it wasn't used as a "cop car", more like a cop's car, like a personal vehicle paid for by the state or something. There is no grating or seat divider or inside locking rear doors or anything. Pretty sure no vomit or caca-poo-poo-pee-pee. 145,000 miles. I got it in non-running condition with the front smashed in from a guy that gave up getting it running. Paid $950 delivered. It is now running and the front is 1/2 fixed. I spent about $150 getting it fixed up so far. I figure another $200 or so and it will be all fixed up. I'll get pictures tonight if I get a chance.

I have a 2000 xj police edition. It came from western colorado and was used for the pit car to push cars off the road. Its all rubber interior, they removed all the cage's and divider. i removed the locating transmiter from under the dash. It has 150,000 on it and no rust. The bumper came with the jeep and i was told that they put diffrent cams in the motor to help and bigger radiators and thermostats. My jeep runs normal at 210 degrees. It needs all new leafs and coils because they are wore out but it still rides good for having sag in the suspension.
There is seriously a locator in it?? I thought that was a joke. What does it look like? There was a group of wires hanging down under the dash way over by the passenger front door that I cleaned up and tucked up under, maybe someone already took it out? I don't know. And mine also has NO rust at all. That's why I got it.

Mine was a lil black box under the drivers side. It wasn't hooked up nemore so I took it all off. The cops have that so if the car was stolen to track it.

Or if the guy/girl hadn't "checked in" for a couple of hours, the dispatcher would know what the location of that particular Dunkin Donut store where the cop was relaxing at, (read sleeping).
