from all the cranking of the engine you will get alot of raw fuel being mixed in with the oil and out the exhaust poss causing the gasueos smells...

That's what to do ^^. Th esystem works well when in good condition. Cost of replacement pipes is minimal, too.

Old mechanic's trick to do along with smelling your oil.

Remove the dipstick from the engine. Allow the oil to drip from the end on to your hand in the area between your thumb and nose-picking finger. If it runs into all the crevices /wrinkles in your skin, it's gas fouled.

the smaller tube in the rear of valve cover is for crankcase pressure relief at idle is its not clear and getting suction from the intake vacuum port more pressure gonna come out the front tube .The front tube takes over with relief crankcase pressure when your on the throttle ,theresd gonna be some blowby on a older vechicle not much can be done to stop it ....its just like us getting old things wear out and gass blows out easier...lol

Ya! That much blow by wouldn't be sucked up by that puny little ccv system. Let's back up. How is your jeep running now?

Well she is still idling rough and cutting off when reved over 35k RPMs. I found that vacuum sound. It was from my throttle. Also I am starting to hear a slight knock.

Lol! not yet, working on it though. One day at a time.

If your rings are just toast and something isn't actually broken, (piston/ring), maybe you could do us an "academic service" by trying that stuff Slick talked about. On the other hand if you might want to rebuild it you might want to shut her down before.......

Well she reves over 35k prms but if I rev over that and let off it shuts off. But when I'm driving she feels great. Like I said. I'm gonna take her into a shop and get a full checkup check up. I can't do much till then cuz, well to be honest, I'm broke lol. I make enough to pay my bills...... That's about it lol. I got this jeep because the snow and my little low civic Si go together like oil and water
