nope... 350 doesnt mount up... theres adapters made for a 350 to bolt up to the AX15 5 speed and maybe the ax5 or whatever automatic... but no other jeep tranny will hold up to the power... they also make motor mounts for a cherokee v8 swap... only like $150... but if you want it done right then your lookin at swappin it all out pretty much... if you have the AX15 5 speed then you should be fine with a stock 350 with no mods... but nothing more... dont know anything about a 4.3 swap but i know at one point i seen a guy thats sells the motor/tranny/computers/wire harness... and everything to swap a 4.3 in anything else... there a well liked motor for swaps...

IMO the Cherokee is very capable stock. I'd go with the 91 or 94 for the HO engine, and then whichever has 8.25 and then look at things like miles, ect.

oh and the least amount of power options possible... unless you like chasing bad wires all week...
