Default Please help identify this rear diff..

It's on a 1998 XJ Limited.

Not sure if this is a Dana35, Chrysler 8.25 or Dana44.

Car seems to have the tow package - extra oil cooler in the front...

D44 is very distinct and the 8.25 has a flat bottom, this is most definitely a D35... Unfortunately

correct me if im wrong, but could you also measure the axel tube as well, 2 3/4" u-bolts for a 35 and 3" u-bolts for a 8.25 (not sure about 44)

It is a 98. Doubtful to have a D44

I agree with this completely. Your time and money would be better spent on a new axle. But anyways, yes it is a c-clip
