Question Please help ASAP?

Hey, So my hand/emergency brake on my 97 is not working, I just replaced the rear brakes (Everything Drums, Pads, etc) and before I did that the hand brake was holding, now it pulls up and everything, but it still moves slowly when stopped, while moving it does not effect anything, does the drum adjuster need to be adjusted more, or is it something else? Thanks

if the ebrake is still hooked up..

that being said, yes, adjust rear brakes.. you should be able to feel reistance when turning the rear wheel with the wheel on.

First ensure your drums are adjusted properly: lift the axle up on jack stands and set for a slight drag when you spin the tires. Once that is done test the E-brake. If it's still really slack/not strong then you may need to use the parking brake adjuster rod (which will be a pain in the *** if you're in the rust belt)

I had to replace the adjuster nut a couple weeks back, I tried adjusting the drums but it dosnt seem to have done anything, and if I tighten the E-brake adjuster it just makes the handle harder to pull up it dosnt seem to add any stopping power....

Is it possible you've got a brake fluid or gear oil leak? That could make the brakes really slick and not hold. Its odd that you get good resistance on the brake handle but no stopping power.

I don't think there are any leaks, My dad and I just adjusted the drums again, and it holds when you try to release the clutch, but if I put it on a hill in neutral and apply it, it rolls back.
