"""""its not really mushy, it just has some play in it, like before you even start to push it down. i can wiggle it back and forth and my lights with blink on and off. """""

it should only move slightly side to side. if lots of movement, the pedal bushing or shaft is worn or loose. Try tightening the shaft's nut that holds it all together.
Sometimes the pedal bracket itself comes loose - the spot welds break.

You should be able to see where/why it's loose by looking.

So I just took at look at my pedal, theres some play in the pedal back and forth but the brake rod that attaches to it doesnt move so i am guessing the problem is the bushings are worn out. I didnt see a shaft nut or through bolt of any kind, it just looks like a bolt with a clip on the other side of it. i guess i could replace the bushings and then through bolt it to replace the pin and nut. any ideas on what ive found?
