Default Play in brakes, HELP!

My brake lights work when I press the brake pedal in but the pedal seems as if it has some trouble returning. It's almost like it sticks which then causes the brake lights to stay on because the pedal had not fully returned to its off position. Any ideas on what this could be? I am thinking it could be the whole brake pedal or the bushings. Any suggestions or ways to fix this?

Thanks a lot.

Is the petal mushy? Sounds like you have a bad wheel cylinder. Have a look at your drum breaks to see any sign's of wetting. Check your break fluid and see if your low.

its not really mushy, it just has some play in it, like before you even start to push it down. i can wiggle it back and forth and my lights with blink on and off.

You may just need a new brake light switch.

so where the brake booster rod meets the pedal assembly un hook it there, is the pedal suppose to move free or have some resistence?

Should not have to bleed your brakes unless a line was open to replace something. Do you have ABS?

No lines were replaced lately that hadn't already been bled. No ABS

If the brake pedal moves freely, the master cylinder is probably on it's way out.

Hose down your brake pedal to brake boost link with wd-40 os similar and the sticky pedal shoud be fixed.
