its legit. But at this time it sounds like your engine may need a steam clean too. Could be bad oil youve been using and got some clatter. Do the MMO with next oil change and drive for 100 and do a next oil change. Youre going to get about 37 1/2 other helpful facts after this and do this and do that. What worked with my jeep and smoothed it out was the MMO and steam cleaning the engine internals like a man, by using a cup lol, damn cruiser

I've quickly learned to take Cruiser's suggestions considering his credentials. Plus I like that there's no BS with him.

I'll give the MMO a try. I assume it has some directions on the bottle? I do know my jeep sat quite a bit before I bought it. I'm pretty sure it was pretty gunky as I kept having to change oil filters over the first few months.

Also, how'd you go about this steam clean? Did you drip water down the throttle body?

For the MMO, just replace 1qt of the oil with that.

As for the steam clean. Get jeep to normal running temp. Take vacuum hose from brake booster and slowly pour water down there. You'll hear jeep bog slightly, just go slow. As for the TB, i used a spray bottle of cold water for there.

I chocked my tb blade open with a straight screwdriver and used my garden hose. I spent a solid 3 minutes spraying water, but I think only about 30 seconds was required. a big glob of black gom piled up in the driveway under the exhaust within the first 10 seconds. I would not suggest this method as the engine was turning anywhere from 4500-4800 rpm when allowed to rev freely. I didn't know this until I got done and peeked inside at the gauges to see if it was getting hot. it sure didn't sound like it was spinning that fast.

edit: what prompted my aggressive approach was a misfire it acquired after changing plugs. a huge piece of carbon broke off somewhere and got stuck in the tip of the plug.

It's honestly been this way with like 3 or 4 different oils. I wasn't intentionally changing oils for any reason, it just kinda worked out that way.

Pretty easy.

Get a cup of water, preferably something like a 24 to 32 oz. cup.
With the air cleaner off, hold the engine RPM at 2000 RPM or higher and dribble the water from the cup, which you've pinched to look like a spout on top, into the carb or throttle body. Go slowly and the engine will bog a bit. Stop and let it recover. Repeat until the cup is empty.

Awesome! Much appreciated! What do I do once the cup of water is gone? Go for a drive? Turn it off? How often should something like this be done?

Once a year is plenty. A second cup of water initially isn't bad either.

Drive it like I stole it? I can make that happen! I hate to keep asking so many questions, but how long should I steal it for? lol

Lastly, how long should I drive with the quart of MMO in there before I do an oil change? I seem to be finding mixed answer about that. I do a good amount of highway driving... about 300 miles a week just for work. Last oil change was 1,200 miles ago.
