I bought a fob from keyless ride and it came with programming instructions. I did not have to go the dealer. It was fairly easy and straightforward. $55 fob, shipping, tax. It is one without the panic button. 96 XJ 4X4

Default key fob not working....

There's yer sign: my headliner was drooping so I got some nice soft camo fabric fron Hancock Fabrics & a spray can of contact glue...a couple of hours later all done, really looks great. Odd thing though, my key fob suddenly quit working. I replaced the batteries, but no luck. So five minutes perusing the forum and bingo!! I broke one of the overhead console mounts when removing the headliner shell, so I'm waiting for some time to make a trip to the JY and get a replacement. Meanwhile the overhead console is on my workbench. Never knew what the extra circuitry in the overhead unit was for...until now. Amazing what a guy can learn on here. Thanks to everyone that posts this valuable info. Probably saved me the $140 @ the dealer!
