"peanut" key fob.
I need a new remote key fob. Where do i get one cheap? I don't want to spend $100 at the dealer for the remote and programming. Is it possible to get a used one and program it myself? If so, how do i do it?

The peanut ones are generally used in the newer (OBDII) Jeeps. Unfortunately for you, the programming for the fob is not done on the fob itself, but in the receiver in your Jeep. $100 from the dealer is not as bad of a deal as you think. I have seen them charge $75 just for the programming, so you are getting the fob for $25 (which is a steal at dealer markups). You won't get around having the dealer program your remote unless you get a whole new aftermarket system.

i have the OBDII and the peanut fob and it wasn't working so i unhooked the receiver in the overhead console and then plugged it back in and it worked again.
