Default pdc box...can you take it apart?

Was curious if there's a way to take apart the pdc box in my 97 xj. My fuel pump isn't powering up and it looks like the plug for the 30 pin on my fuel pump relay has fallen down inside there.

Yep, the bottom can be easily removed.

There is.

See pics below.

Remove the connector off the negative post of the battery and secure it out of the way.

Remove the small cover off the end of the PDC, then remove the two cable connectors you see there.

Go to the fender side of the PDC. You'll see two metal clips holding the PDC to its bracket. Use a screwdriver to unlatch the two clips, then lift the PDC up and rotate the PDC back so you can work on separating the upper PDC from the PDC bottom.

Look around the sides of the PDC, you'll see several clips that hold the two PDC halfs together. Using a screwderiver, carefully release the clips to separate the two.

The bottom pic shows what the guts of the PDC looks like.

Good luck, and let us know how you made out.

Because your FP pin cavity connector has dropped down, I suspect the lock tab on the pin cavity connector is broken and will not stay locked in place. See pics below.

If the lock tab is broken and won't stay in place, you can hold the respective pin cavity connector (wire) in place while you insert the FP relay in the PDC.

Many people have searched high & low for replacement connectors and can't find replacements.

Thank you. I was gonna start tearing down the pdc this morning but woke up to 26 degrees and a couple inches of snow....its gonna hit 40 today though so maybe in a few hours I can go out and start working. Didnt know how the wires were held in place. Thanks for the info on the lock tabs....ill let you all know how it goes. Hopefully this will fix all my problems. After over two weeks it would be nice to have my xj back

I cant thank you all enough. I took the pdc apart and sure enough two of my plugs for my fuel pump relay had fallen back inside the box. I pushed them back up and plugged in the relay...instant power to the pump and she fired right up. Thank you all soooo much.
