Default pcv valve

Broke my pcv valve earlier today when replacing the valve cover gasket. Right now I have an engine breather in its place. Was wondering if it would hurt to leave the engine breather there permananetly or if I should replace the pvc valve.

Thanks,
Austin

Define "engine breather"?? Are you speaking of the little miniature open style air filter??

That will be ok, better than just have a hole. But fix it right when you can.

Depends on which one you broke..If it's the one that runs a tube to the air filter box then yes you can run a breather but you need to at least replace the elbow. Oh and it's CCV our engines don't have a PCV.. You can order those elbows for a few dollars.

I agreee with OKC. If you broke the front one and replaced it with a filter, no big deal. You DEFINITELY want the rear one connected to the vacuum source, otherwise you're going to have oil covering the top of your engine in no time.

what if the ccv is clogged and the front one with the hose that goes to the air filter box is plugged off. could that make it leak oil when taking off at stop signs and passing cars or roasting tires or driving on the highway? and its not burning it, its leaking for sure. because its getting all over the back window and hatch. its got all new gaskets and seals that i done myself with moter out and on a stand. can someone please help, its driving me crazy?

is that what theyre called? CCV? Lol because I was lookin to replace mine (due to the fact that I found oil on the back end of my air filter last time I changed it) and I looked at AutoZone and was told 'not applicable'. I did find a PCV Elbow (same thing?) Im just wondering cuz I really wanna replace mine before another filter gets ruined by oil. Also, where can you buy the tube running from the elbow to the air filter? When I bought mine the guy replaced it with a piece of garden hose (brilliant) and I want to use the RIGHT thing.

Would leaving the PCV valve cracked similar to this dudes (
) cause excessive oil leaking throughout the entire engine all the way to the sump? Im seeing engine oil leak almost everywhere and I'm just trying to identify where this engine oil leak is coming from. Hoping it's just from the PCV valve (which i doubt : ( )

Here's the link to the PCV and grommet by the way:
