Hmmm.. that doesn't look right. The stock one should have a lip on the bottom for the rubber grommet.

Yep did mine a couple o' weeks ago. Simple o get out, Pain in the f-in *** to et in. But here's a trick that helped.
Rub a little oil around the seal that's going in. Set it like in the hole straight, push down on it and twist until one side goes in. And there should be about a quarter of it that doesn't like to go in, so I used a flat head screwdriver and gently.. Forced it in.

If all else fails, I usually yell "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!!!!!"

and she'll pop right in.

But razor's right, it should have a rubber seal or grommet, on the bottom.

you're right 97up are different, you have the other style, i remember reading a previous thread about it, try searching for pcv or valve cover.

you don't have to, but it would be easier to change the elbow with the cover off, removing a 97up is a PITA because sometimes they crack and have to come out in pieces, i've read here somewhere of someone using a heat gun to remove the elbow but it was on a 97up, you're to just twist and pull it out...
