On my way home today, in the pouring rain, my wipers decided to get hung up on each other. I had to pull over basically into a bush, climb out the passenger side so I wouldn't get hit by a big chevy behind me, and work them loose. Turns out my passenger side wiper just stopped working, causing it to get hung up on the driver side wiper. I then had to drive home with only the driver side wiper working (luckily). I had to cook dinner, so my dad went out to look at it and he said the ball in the joint underneath the driver side wiper fell out, causing the passenger side to stop since the linkage stopped moving. I did a search and came across one thread that said bushings are available and can be replaced fairly easily. Is this true? I also found a thread that said it was a $500 fix for a new setup since it's a dealer item. I only need to fix the one joint. Can anyone give me some advice on this? I'd like to have it fixed asap.
Thanks for any info!

P.S. I can move the passenger side wiper easily by hand. That's probably obvious, but it might still help.

Google junkyards close to you. If it is a u pull it atyle go gets it. Otherwise you will have to explain what u need to them and pay them to pull the wrong part for you

I got some of those bushings for now, gonna see if I can get one to work. I'll plan a trip to a JY sometime soon for some odds and ends. Probably go with a buddy to get stuff for his tacoma also. I just need a quick fix temporarily so I can still get around fine. The cops around me give a good amount of tickets. It's a rural area, not much goes on aside from speeding teens. Luckily I'm smart enough not to fit in with that stereotype. And I also drive a brick on wheels.

I know this was an old post, but how was this resolved? Same thing just happened to mine. Do you pull the whole linkage with the ball and socket attached and just replace that whole arm? Can't find the part on the fiche. Thanks

Pull it all as an assembly. Determine what is needed at that point.

Most parts stores will have the linkage bushings if you need them.
Dorman part# 49447 A blister pack containing a bushing assortment.
Drill out the old ones, press in the new ones.

Thanks! I'll give this a shot tomorrow. So they press fit into the hole? Also does the "ball" joint snap or press into the bushing? I'm assuming that's what's supposed to happen. My passenger linkage that drives the right side has the "ball and socket" but the socket (bushing) seems worn so the ball just falls out due to gravity (it's upside down when assembled).
