"part time" light in 4wd hi??
i test drove a possible 2001 jeep to buy the other day with the np231. when in 4x4 HI there was a light that came on that said "part time" does this mean i cant drive in 4x4hi on the dry roads?

Hi, No you cant drive a NP231 with the 4x4 locked on the street or dry roads, I wouldn't drive in the rain on the street either. Off road, sand, mud and snow is OK though...Tj

part time doesn't mean the 4WD is on part of the time... it means that mode is for the part of time you will be off road or in really slippery conditions.
The drive line will bind up when you turn sharp on dry pavement. It could even cause damage.
