Ok still new to the repair thing as well as the jeep thing, I have a 88xj 4wd wouldn't engage tracked down that it was a bad vacuum line under the hood. HOWEVER now my part time light will not go off. Lifted front wheel off ground to see if it was disengaged and it was, so what could cause this light to stay on ALL THE TIME. any help appreciated, and keep in mind I'm new to mechanics so lamens terms appreciated lol

 

Vacuum switch rear of transfer case sounds like its sticking . Should be right near speedo cable . Rear drive shaft area.pull the vacuum line off top unscrew it and see if ball on end move freely.If not spray penetrating oil and free it up.

 

is that the one that has 4 or 5 lines going into it? I unscrewed that and it's moving freely,

 

Yep...ok on front axle passenger side theres a vacuum diaghfram there might be a switch on end with same possible issue. Pull it and check ball.

Not saying you got that one theres a vacuum switch also on fire wall most times the switch on tc is stuck or bad.
