What is the difference between these two settings and what is each good for? I can't feel a difference when driving I don't think..

Full time is somewhat like AWD, such that you can use it on pavement due to a differential action in the transfer case.

Part time 4wd is meant for loose and slippery surfaces, never for hard pavement.

Check the back of your drivers side sunvisor for more information.

You can drive PT on pavement as long as it's wet, icey or snow covered. You need the slippery condition to allow the axles to slip instead of binding up.

Okay so here in the NW when there's snow on the roads I should have it in FT and when I'm in the hills hunting I should have it in PT? What about for mudding?

I have part time in all 3 of my Jeeps and I use it offroad and for snow and icey roads and haven't had a problem yet. Been doing it for years now. Just don't use it on dry paved roads and your good.
