Part time 4x4 question
Hello all Jeep Lovers!
I just purchased my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I am having a slight issue where it seems to slip into Part-Time 4x4 on its own even with the lever in 2WD. It takes some doing but eventually I can get it to disengage and return to 2WD. Does anyone know what I can look for or expect to have repaired for this issue?
Thanks
Jim

Are all your tires the same size?
I had issues with a jeep I bought that had two new tires on the back that were the same tire size but slightly larger.
You had to drive on gravel and spin the tires to get it to disengage.

One odd tire will Not cause it to slip into 4lo! It will cause it to run bad when in FWD. I would check the linkage also make sure that it is adjusted correctly.

Do you really know what's going on?
No matter an odd size tire Will Not cause this to happen. The linkage on the transfer case can cause it to slip in to 4wd.

Let's see! First you say it's slipping into Part time 4wd then you say it isn't??? What do you think part time 4wd drive is? IT"S 4WD!!!
Do you really know what's going on?

Well its is nice to know I could ask a simple question?
Not sure why you seem to be upset and well rude RTorrez1? I was just asking a simple question and thought this was the place to ask such things but I may have been wrong? What I was trying to say that it wasn't into Full time 4WD or a 4WD lo it was just part time. I am sorry if that was the incorrect terminology? I was just curious if there was a simple thing for me to look at or if it might be something major? But thanks for the help anyway...

I understood what you were trying to explain no problem. I think somebody's grouchy.
I would make sure all tires are the same first just to rule it out. Then check your t-case linkage. Whichever order really...good luck to ya.

No! Just hate stupid people that think that mismatched tires would cause a transfer case to slip into 4wd! AND YES Part time 4wd is 4wd. I think it's time to get rid of a 4wd and get a bicycle if you don't understand that.

Thanks Jeepin'Hubb's! Ya I figure it would have something to do with the linkage but I know that sometimes weird things happen and I was just asking if anyone with more knowledge than I had seen this and knew of a alternative fix like a fuse or the tire mismatch thing. I have heard of weirder things happening and not knowing the history of this particular jeep I just thought I would ask.
