Default Painting Polyurethane Spacers?

Does anyone have any experience painting the spacers that come with these lift kits. I just bought the 2" Skyjacker xj20 kit, and the 2" spacers are red. I want to paint them black, so they don't stick out like a sore thumb, but I don't know how well the paint will hold. I bought some adhesion promoter primer and black paint for plastics to give it a shot. Any luck with this. Even if it lasts for awhile, it seems worth it to me
