Default Painting the gas tank?

I just bought a new gas tank and was curious if anyone has painted one before, I would like to make sure its protected and lasts as long as possible and not rusting out 3 years. I did a search and came up with nothing.

(assuming your painting the outside) nothing special needs to be done to paint it. primer and paint is all that is needed. hell you can skip the primer if you wanted if money is an issue and you just want it done for cheap.

Actually.....there is a proxuct, wellmany products that will coat the inside of you tank with a hard ceramic like coating. Its used alot for motorcycles and I used it for an international I restored.

that proceedure its typically called "creaming the tank" beacause the stuff is white. dump it in seal her up and roll the tank on all 3 axis to coat the inside.

Use Por15 or Chassis Saver, I used chassis saver on my rear bumper and it is virtually indestructable. Either of the two paints are a great way to prevent rust. Its also very tough. They seal so tight that you have to use a layer of saran wrap on the lid of the paint can or else you will never get it back off again. Now thats all assuming you have access to a spray gun.
