Default Paint over herculiner

Has anybody ever did it and how were the results. I know they sell different colored herculiner. But I had some left over and I am thinking of throwing some green on it after it dries.

I email Duplicolor about doing over there sparay liner a few months ago. They said its not normally done, but use and enamal spray and let the liner cure for at least a week.

I will give it awhile to dry, and then I will probably have to primer it to get any colors to show up on the black. But after looking at it today I might just leave it black. thanks for the advice

I've been wondering about painting herculiner too. Let us know if you decide to do it and how it turns out. Oh yeah, pics are required also.

I contacted herculiner by email about painting over their product and this is the response I got.

"Thanks for your e-mail. We do not recommend painting over the Herculiner as the paint will most likely crack, spiderweb and start to peel off. Also, the surface will no longer be a slip resistant surface. If you want a smoother surface, you may strain some of the rubber granules out of the Herculiner. If you really wish to paint over the Herculiner, you can by using a polyurethane based paint. If the Herculiner will be on the surface for a long period of time and is weathered, you will have to clean the surface using TSP and a stiff bristled deck brush. Then rinse the surface and let it air dry. You will now be able to paint over the Herculiner. If the Herculiner is new, you should paint the surface within 24 hours after the second coat has been applied. If the Herculiner is more than 24 hours old but not yet weathered, then wire brush the surface prior to applying the paint."

I hope this helps.

Here's something you could do and don't quote me on this. You can buy bed liner paint that can be tinted or have pain mixed in to give it color. I talked to a local shop not long ago that does err I forget what brand but they add color to theirs to get colored bed liner.

Its all in the prep. I've done about 20 bedliners, sprayed it in fenderwells done flairs and everything in the past, as long as its scuffed up and prepped right it will stick

I've painted over liner before, I used a plastic primer first in VERY light coats and the paint in very light coats, as long as its not a part that can flex (ie flairs) the paint should stay on.

Bingo, paint in general is tint-able. They make tint-able bedliner.
